It feels MOMENTOUS to me! Fifty years!
Congratulations to all of the thousands of people who created, nurtured, maintained, put in a bazillion hours of volunteer work AND to all the people who have loved it over the years. I just think it is HUGE.Personally, I give the festival a LOT of credit for keeping wool sheep breeds and the fiber arts alive. The US started the return to spinning, wool love and breed specific yarns, quite a few years before the UK picked up wool mantle with us.
And we are very proud to be a vendor!
Please come visit us in the Main Exhibition Hall, booths D16 & 17 look for our 50th Marigold-en Anniversary specials and the "thank you customers!" raffle of a custom woven throw dyed with marigolds.

Saturday: gates open at 8:30 a.m. &
close at 6:00 p.m. They say “NO EARLY ADMISSION”
Sunday: vendors are open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Admission is $10 per day for those 18 and older. Under 18 are free.
This might seem like a big jump, but the costs of hosting the festival have gone up dramatically in the past couple years. The president of the Maryland Sheep Breeders Association, who puts on the festival, gave one example: "the white tents you see all around the festival—their cost has tripled. We hope you understand we had to raise our admission fee to help cover the increase in expenses. If you are in a position to do so, please consider donating to the festival. A gift from you will help ensure the festival will continue far into the future."
